Names of twelve persons (four men and eight women) who served as jury at the governmental case against Roger Clemens were released by the judge Reggie Walton.
The government desired the jury to be convinced that the baseball player had lied before the Congress about application of steroids and HGH. But since the jury acquitted Roger Clemens, the government criticized the persons who served as the jury. Certain persons that acted as the jury were interviewed.
A political activist, an art historian, a teacher of deaf kids, an official of Treasury Department and an employee of the Canadian Embassy were included in the jury.
The political activist Joyce Robinson-Paul was interviewed by the New York Daily News several days after the verdict. She noticed that the jurors understood that they had to be fair to both the federal prosecutors and the athlete. But they didn’t find anything that had to be pursued. Later she also noted that the government was not able to prove their statements.
The employee of the Canadian Embassy Bradford Weaver stated that the government acted wrongly. He noted that such cases should not happen again. This person also confirmed that there was nothing to be pursued. He was interviewed by the Associated Press. Bradford Weaver also noticed that every juror comprehended from the very beginning that Roger Clemens was not guilty of any charge. Weaver claimed that every juror was unanimous.
Bradford Weaver was also asked whether he considered that Roger Clemens really applied steroids. The Associated Press also asked him whether he considered that the governmental case against the athlete represented only the waste of taxpayers’ funds. But Bradford Weaver refused to answer the questions.
Another juror who chose not to be named stated that the jurors didn’t understand how the government could spend significant sums of money during five years in order to pursue the baseball player. This person confirmed that it was impossible to comprehend why the prosecution lasted for five years.
Other jurors didn’t present any information.
As for feds, they were wholly disappointed. They refused to respond to the affirmations presented by the jurors.
