Researches connected with inhaled corticosteroids

Inhaled steroids are usually advised for treatment of persons with early stages of asthma complications.
According to several latest researches, one may increase the normal quantity of inhaled steroids by 8 times, but positive effects will be not enhanced in such case. Ejaz Yousef, an expert that has been involved in these researches, confirms that if a doctor sees that medical position of a person worsens, he/she may prescribe taking oral steroids instead of enhancing the dosage of inhaled corticosteroids. Enhancing the dose of inhaled corticosteroids is not without any adverse consequence. This aspect leads to various adverse effects. For example, the hypothalamic-pituitary adrenal axis can be suppressed under such circumstance.  
Application of inhaled corticosteroids was claimed to be alternative treatment to using oral drugs. It was in 1997. It was recommended to indicate inhaled steroids as alternatives of oral medicines which are utilizable for individuals with asthma exacerbations.
Later, some researches have displayed that intake of enhanced doses of inhaled steroids regularly doesn’t enhance benefits.
Yousef and his colleagues have conducted a research which involved almost 200 children of 2-17 years. These kids were given inhaled corticosteroids during 3 months. They were chosen randomly for treatment for a period of 12 days. Any child that experienced asthma exacerbation was given inhaled corticosteroids. Then the results were evaluated by the specialists.
No any child that smoked, experienced signs of chronic asthma or lung pathology was implicated in the research.
Patients had to let know about their side results via telephone within 72 hours.  Thus, it was reported about cough during nighttime, wheeze, shortness of breath and intolerance  for exercises. Every effect was evaluated according to a score which was ranged from 0 to 4. 0 meant no any response; 4 meant the most increased severity level.
Only 4 kids out of 82 the children that were given high measures of inhaled steroids had to take systemic corticosteroids. 2 of them were given doubled dosages; others two were applying the measure that was more enhanced by 8 times than a normal one.
According to the results of the study, usefulness of the preparations, placebo effect, supervision of specialists and treatment of individuals during early stages of asthma complications were responsible for acquiring good results.
This as well as other studies demonstrate that not every story about steroids is linked with abuse and administration of them in sports. Steroids are usable for many medical cases.
